The Man Behind the Method
Aaron Ellis
Three decades spent watching how people change under pressure — and a method built from what that taught him.
The Through-Line
Change has always been the work
Long before the therapy room, the work was the same: helping people change something they couldn't shift on their own. Thirty-four years coaching strength taught it physically — how a body recruits what it already has when the load is framed right. Over twenty years instructing martial arts taught it under pressure — how people hold a pattern, and what it takes for one to give way.
The thread running through all of it was never technique. It was the moment a person stops fighting themselves — and what was asked, in the right silence, to get them there.
Where Hypnotherapy Entered
Building on a proven foundation
Seven years ago that lifelong interest became a practice. Aaron trained in and is licensed to teach the ACH method developed by Scott Jansen — the conversational, question-led approach that underpins his work.
Strategic Dialogue Hypnotherapy is what he built on top of it: not a repackaging of someone else's system, but a structured method of his own — sharpened on the investigation phase, where the real work of change is decided.
The Method
A question-led method where trance is the byproduct, not the treatment
SDH treats the problem as an arch held up by a keystone belief. You don't dismantle it stone by stone. You find the belief carrying the load, ask the right question at the right moment, and the arch comes down on its own — without force, without drama.
What I Stand For
The principles underneath the work
People aren't broken
They're rehearsed. The pattern isn't a fault to fix — it's a structure that's been practised, and structures can be changed.
Do less, reach further
The right question in the right silence does more than a hundred clever techniques. Precision over volume, every time.
The structure, not the story
Most change work treats the story a client tells. SDH finds the architecture holding it in place — and works there.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Writer, coach, and lifelong student of change
Aaron is the author of the Magnetic Series, including The Pendulum and the Unconscious Mind, Stuck Is a Trance, and The Language of Change — books that lay out the thinking behind the method. Alongside the writing and teaching, he works as an AI consultant and prompt engineer, bringing the same eye for structure and precise language to a very different field.
Different rooms, one constant: the conviction that the right words, placed with care, change what feels fixed.
